Highly detailed fine silk Qum Rug. Beautifully woven with an ivory background with accents and details woven in muted brown, cream and beige colours. The design features a highly detailed central medallion, with floral motifs and scrolling botanical leaves, woven intricately through the centre. This unique design is then enclosed by an extensively detailed repeat pattern border. This fine silk rug was constructed in the 19060s however is still in beautiful condition with a thick silk pile. The construction of Qum rugs started to take off in the 1930s. The Qum rug patterns traditionally feature central medallions with designs that resemble the ceilings of traditional mosques. Qum rug designs also frequently feature animal scenes with rich colourways.
