Antique Persian Salt Bag Northwest Iran

This beautifully hand-woven salt bag is an antique piece woven in 1900. The design features a symmetrical geometric pattern woven in blue, red and yellow accents. This unique piece is completely one of a kind and is sure to stand out in any home or rug collection.

Salt bags were traditionally used as storage for herbs, spices and salts, allowing nomads to easily carry and contain the substances.  

This piece was constructed with fine, hand-spun wool and cotton that have been dyed with organic dyeing techniques used for generations. The techniques and materials make this piece durable and so sure to last if cared for correctly. Good condition, ready for use.
