Antique Caucasian, Shirvan Rug

This beautiful area rug features a striped geometric design woven in colours of red blue and ivory. This antique kilim rug is handwoven in the city of Shirvan which was originally part of Persia until the 1830s. The compositions of Shirvan kilims appear to fall into two main categories, the first consisting of banded format kilims without, which this one is without border with hexagonal motifs.
